Fractional CAIO for a mid-market SaaS platform

A marketplace software platform operating a PCI-scoped payments environment retained Modular for ongoing executive AI leadership: strategy and roadmap, governance policy, sanctioned tool decisions, and hands-on enablement for their teams. The same fractional model we offer smaller organizations, holding up at mid-market scale and scrutiny.
How the fCAIO works

Compliance evidence pipeline with a managed-security partner

With a regional security partner, we built a pipeline where a private AI instance reads the mountain of security logs no human has time for, maps findings to CMMC Level 1 controls, and drafts the evidence a credentialed virtual CISO then verifies with the client every month. Early clients have received their System Security Plan and SPRS self-assessment entries through it.

We use what we sell. Both of these run our own operations today.

Modular Mission Control

The operational backbone for AI agents: ticketed tasks, a kanban board, capacity limits, structural approval gates, and an activity log that lets you reconstruct every decision after the fact. Self-hosting since July 2026, meaning MMC tracks its own build, with no third-party SaaS in the loop.

CAIO Control Center

A self-hosted gateway that sees and policies every AI request inline: guardrails on by default, personal data masked, budgets enforced, every token and dollar accounted for. Anything that does not talk to the gateway is shadow AI by definition, which makes it a detection target instead of a blind spot. In live pilot now.
